Background
Aristotle was born in Stagira Greece. He studied under Plato, a successful educated philosopher. After Plato died Aristotle tutored Alexander the Great. He discovered his own school, Lyceum, there he spent his time researching and writing. He called his students "peripatetics". Aristotle's knowledge of logic, philosophy, physics, biology, psychology, politics and rhetoric still influence the world today.

What did he discover?
Aristotle did not believe that atoms had a consistent shape or being in constant motion. He developed a theory in 400BC that all matter consisted of the 4 elements of water, earth, fire, and air. He believed all the elements moved into their "proper places" by nature.

Equipment?
Because Aristotle lived during a time period where equipment was not made yet, he simply had to use logical knowledge. He thought of ideas that pertain to nature to implicate his theory of the 4 elements of water, earth, fire, and air.

History
A lot of historical events happened during the time period of 400BC. One event is the Battle of Cunaxa which ended the Kingdom of Israel. Another event is the Peloponnesian war which led Sparta to capture Athens and end the war.
