Background
Erwin Schrödinger was born in Vienna, Austria on August 12th, 1887, and was an only child.  Erwin’s family was very smart, and the genes were also passed down to him.  Up until the age of 10, Erwin was educated in his home with a private tutor.  In 1898 he devoted his life to Italian painting at Akademisches Gymnasium.  Soon after, Schrödinger discovered his love for scientific disciplines.  It became clear that Erwin was gifted in mathematics and physics. In the years 1906-1910 he attended University of Vienna, and received his doctorate in 1910.  Schrödinger started to study many many things, including analytical mechanics, thermodynamics and statistical mechanics in the mastery of eigenvalue problems with physics of continuous media.  When World War I started, he served as an artillery officer on the Italian boarder.  After the war he married Annemarie Bertel in 1920. Shortly after, he replaced a man at the University of Zurich teaching academics. Erwin died from Tuberculosis on January 4th 1961.

What did he discover?

Erwin Schrödinger modernized the atomic theory in 1926 by stating the path electrons would most likely follow in their orbits and nucleus.  There were orbitals and the electrons moved around within an area.  Around the same time, 1926, the Schrödinger Equation, also known as the wave equation, stated that light and matter have both wave and particle characteristics at the atomic and subatomic levels.  This new theory did not include the fact that electrons are particles and treated them as waves. By 1926 physicists had developed the laws of quantum mechanics, also called wave mechanics, to explain atomic and subatomic occurrence.

Equipment?
Schrödinger created equations based off of his experiments and research  to create a mathematical model.

History

During the years of Erwin’s life there were many historical events.  World War I started in 1914 and lasted until 1918, in which Great Britain, France, Russia, Belgium, Italy, Japan, the United States, and other allies defeated Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey, and Bulgaria.  North America and Europe endured an economic slump, also knows as the Great Depression, which lasted from 1929-139.   In 1933 Hitler came to power, and controlled Germany until 1945, when he committed suicide.  Soon after World War I ended, World War II started. Germany, Italy and Japan fought against Britain, Soviet Union, and the United States. When World War II was finally over, only 5 years went by until another war.  The Korean War was fought from 1950-1953 between North and South Korea.  Schr
ödinger did not live much longer after the Korean War ended.
